CHRISTMAS PROMOTION

Christmas in the Square gets new clinic’s backing

The nearly 300 trees twinkling these Yuletide nights in the Royal Commonwealth Society’s Christmas in the Square project have gained extra sparkle from a West Coast luxury medical practice.

President Dame Sandra Mason, who is patron of RCS- Barbados, hosted a presentation at State House as Cheryll Belle, the society’s national chair, received a contribution from the Harley Street Clinic as the tree project marks its 10th year.

The clinic, located at the Limegrove Lifestyle Centre, is owned by Michael Kent with Dr Anike Serrano as its clinical director.

Expressing gratitude for the clinic’s involvement, Belle emphasised the crucial role of private sector support in executing the RCS branch’s outreach programmes like Christmas in the Square.

“The branch relies on the support of the private sector for executing our outreach programmes such as Christmas in the Square, which provides a forum for the display of teamwork, research and creativity by the youth of Barbados, while also embracing some of the Commonwealth’s values and core principles, such as freedom of expression and protecting the environment,” she said.

Christmas in the Square boasts 290 illuminated Christmas trees located in Bridgetown, at State House, and at the Grantley Adams International Airport, two of which were adorned by The Harley Street Clinic.

Kent praised RCS-Barbados for its educational work, particularly its dedication to nurturing the creativity of Barbadian youth through tree decoration using recycled and natural materials.

He said: “The Harley Street Clinic’s team enjoyed the process of conceptualising and then decorating our trees as part of the national effort.”

Dr Serrano underscored the society’s commitment to bringing joy and unity to Bridgetown during the holiday season. As a healthcare provider, she highlighted the clinic’s resonance with initiatives like Christmas in the Square that contribute to holistic health. She expressed admiration for the collective efforts of the youth in creating a vibrant and joyous atmosphere for everyone to enjoy. (PR/BT)
