CHRISTMAS PROMOTION

Guardian Group, NCB spread Christmas cheer at Nightengale Children’s Village

The compound of the Nightengale Children’s Village was brought alive with excitement and good cheer recently as Guardian Group and NCB Capital Markets Barbados Limited staff surprised the little ones with Christmas presents.

The arrival of the truckload of gifts and the delivery team’s rhythmic Christmas carolling delighted the children and caregivers alike.

The Shoebox Project, as it is known, is a Guardian Group tradition undertaken by all its business operations across the Caribbean territories. Every December, hundreds of Guardian Group employees fill empty shoeboxes with wonderful gift items including clothing, toys, books, games and stationery, with the intention of putting smiles on the faces of orphaned children. Endorsing the goodwill of the charity drive, NCB Capital Markets Barbados Limited staff has also been on board for the past few years.

Senior Child Care Officer at the Child Care Board Treenia Hurley was present as the team delivered the gifts to the various children’s homes. She expressed sincere gratitude to Guardian Group and NCB for their outpouring of generosity, this being the 11th year that the children have received the Christmas gifts.

Commenting on the success of the Shoebox Project, Ayesha Boucaud-Claxton, Head of Group Marketing and Communication referred to it as a humbling experience, and commended the employees across Guardian Group for championing the company’s vision to meaningfully impact and selflessly serve the community.

“We recognise that our purpose goes beyond being a profitable insurance and financial services provider. It is our duty to be a socially responsive organisation, showing the warm, caring side of humanity through kind gestures that will have a positive influence on future generations. It is our intention to let these children know that they are loved and valued. Shoebox Project allows us to do exactly that!” she said.
