Earlier today the National Petroleum Corporation and members of the Barbados Fire Service conducted investigations into a suspected gas leak in the area of Tudor Street, Bridgetown.
According to a statement by the NPC, at approximately 11:00 am today, they received a report of the smell of gas in the area of Tudor Street, Bridgetown and a team of technicians were immediately dispatched to investigate.
A Portable Methane Detector, which measures the level of natural gas in the area, was deployed and results indicated small traces of methane in the atmosphere.
To locate the exact location of the possible leak, the roadway was excavated, further tests were conducted and the gasline has been isolated and capped off from the main supply grid for safety.
The NPC team will continue to investigate and an update will be provided. (NPC/BT)
