Top official pleased with the BEC’s achievements

The Executive Director of the Barbados Employers’ Confederation (BEC), Sheena Mayers-Granville, is pleased with the organisation’s strides and achievements over its 68-year lifespan.

“The BEC—we’ve been around for 68 years . . . . And the BEC has been using those years to advocate for business and especially social policy geared towards development and employment. So we are in the business of people,” the executive director stated as she addressed the congregation at the Calvary Moravian Church on Sunday.

She also pointed to the BEC’s longstanding commitment in forming key strategic partnerships among Barbados’ labour and business communities.

Mayers-Granville further emphasised the BEC’s dedication to ensuring quality employment opportunities and best practices in the workplace. “We know that work is an essential part of our lives. We spend so many hours every week doing work. So at the BEC, our focus is making sure that persons have work and advocating for best practices while at work.”

Her remarks coincided with the conclusion of the BEC’s week of activities, which included their 64th Annual General Meeting where the president, Gail-Ann King, was re-elected for a third term. (RG)
