Leading imported three-year-old filly in Barbados Zazzy has made it six wins from nine starts winning the Foursquare Distillery Handicap on Saturday night, giving her trainer Jean Marc Cozier back-to-back feature race night wins after scoring with So Suave in The Old Brigand Rum Cup on June 15.
The hot favourite Zazzy broke sharply but that was not to be for long as locally-bred Major Dan from the Sir David Seale stable went to the lead under a light drizzle in the 1100-metre feature race, as he was quickly hounded by Show the Money at the four-furlong marker with Zazzy dropping back to third and Sir Jimmy bringing up the back maker in the four-horse field.
Show The Money turned for home looking all over a winner but was quickly overtaken by Zazzy showing an impressive kick drawing away to score from Show the Money in second, Sir Jimmy third, and Major Dan fourth.
Winning jockey Ricky Walcott rode a smart race sitting off the pace as the track favoured horses that were closing due to the wet conditions of the track.
Winning owner Nalicia Cozier could have a future Sandy Lane Spa sprint winner on her hands for next year. Races will continue on July 13. (KL)
