The Barbados Light & Power Company reported Friday that it has successfully restored supply to all customers affected by the passage of Hurricane Beryl earlier this week.
Director of Operations Johann Greaves said crews deployed over the past four days had demonstrated unwavering dedication and worked hard to ensure customers had power again.
When the Category 4 hurricane passed about 80 miles to Barbados’ south early Monday, about 25 per cent of Light & Power customers had the electricity supply interrupted. The utility company thanked customers for their patience and the information they shared to get things back on track.
However, Greaves noted: “While we are happy we have been able to have all Beryl impacted customers’ power restored, our work continues. Over the next few days, crews will be addressing any low-hanging or sparking wires to ensure the safety and reliability of our service.”
Light & Power also expressed its readiness to assist neighbouring Caribbean islands that experienced the worst of Beryl, through the Caribbean Electric Utility Services Corporation, (Carilec). (BT)
