The Barbados Meteorological Services is monitoring the progress of two areas of low pressure located near 15N, 40W and 12N, 33W at 11 a.m.
These systems are about 2125 km and 3100km respectively to the east of Barbados.
According to the BMS, on their present track, both systems are expected to track north of Barbados over the weekend and as such pose no direct threat to the island.
The forecasters added that environmental conditions are conducive for the slow development of these systems over the coming days. However, while no direct impacts are expected for Barbados, the presence of these systems in our region will extend the period of light wind speeds, uncomfortably warm days and heat stress for persons on the island. Additionally, localized afternoon showers will remain likely during the coming days.
There are currently no watches or warning in effect for Barbados for these systems.
