Kemar Smith played hero when he scored 26 runs off the final over to bring the Warriors home by 5 wickets against the Titans in the Bim 10 Tournament at the Windward grounds, Lucas Street in St Phillip on Saturday.
Chasing what would be their highest total of the tournament after Titans scored 136 for 4 in 10 overs. Captain Jonathan Carter wasted no time as he scored a quick fire 30 in 11 balls with 4 fours and 2 sixes to give the Warriors the start they needed.
During the middle phase of the innings, Yvan Grant found his form when he struck a single four and 4 huge sixes on his way to 38 in 15 balls faced.
It all came down to the final 6 deliveries bowled by left arm spinner Jerome Jones. Warriors needed 23 runs to win with Smith on strike.
Smith struck the first ball over cover for six while scampering 2-runs each from balls number two and three. With 13 remaining in 3 balls, Smith brought his teammates and the packed crowd to life when he hit another huge six and four. The target was now down to 3 off the final ball and the pressure was on Jones and the Titans. The final delivery shared the same fate as Smith got on bended knee and slogged sweep the ball over the ropes at mid wicket for another maximum, beginning his sprint to the pavilion as he met his teammates for a mid field celebration to set up a finals matchup against the Settlers.
Matthew Jones led the way for the Titans’ bowlers, picking up 3 wickets for 17 runs in 2 overs.
During the first innings, Raymon Reifer top scored for the Titans when he batted through the innings to score an unbeaten 68 in 31 balls with 5 fours and 5 sixes. Wicket keeper batter Carlos Maynard made 33 in 16 before retiring hurt while Ashley Nurse hit 1 four and 3 sixes in his knock of 23 in 6 balls.
