Settlers showed why they must not be underestimated when they fought from behind to defeat Pelicans by 7 wickets and earn a spot in the Bim10 Finals.

The two-time defending champions won the toss and asked the Pelicans to take first knock. Fast bowler Dario Cumberbatch struck early with the wicket of Jonathan Drakes in the second over for 15 in 7 balls while Zidane Clarke had a double wicket third over when he removed Ravendra Persaud and Kyle Jordan as the score fell to 34-3.

Opening batter Zachary McCaskie anchored the innings as he top scored with 50 before he was run out by some alert fielding during the 9th over. He faced 28 balls and struck 5 fours and 2 sixes.

Kadeem Alleyne also bowled exceptionally well as he was entrusted with the final over which cost 10 runs, finishing with figures of 2 for 16 in two overs. Clarke took 2 for 10 in one over.

The speed of the Pelicans bowling lineup showed its worth when Chemar Holder, Akeem Jordan and Jamar Ifill surely unsettled the early batters by striking a number of them in the helmets. Each of them picked up one wicket within the first 4 overs with the score now 30 for 3.

Settlers were surely missing their top batter and the tournament’s leading run scorer, Kevin Wickham, who is away on West Indies duty in Antigua.

Nicholas Kirton brought some stability to the innings as he and teenaged all-rounder Zachary Carter put on an exquisite display of batting to thrill the massive crowd at Windward.
