Scotiabank employees continue support of Variety’s Gold Heart Pin Campaign

Variety—The Children’s Charity of Barbados continues to undertake initiatives aimed at enriching the quality of life of children who are sick, disadvantaged or living with special needs. For over three decades, Variety’s Gold Heart Pin Campaign has been a key fundraiser for the charity.

Each year, Variety International collaborates with a major motion picture studio to create a pin inspired by a film or character. This year, the initiative, which has generated millions for children in need worldwide, highlights the award-winning movie Wicked. Pins are sold at a minimum donation of BDS$6. Proceeds from this campaign are used to support Variety’s Care Programme, which provides essential medical care and health equipment to care for kids at home, in the community and in medical institutions.

Over the past weeks, Scotiabank employees have not only purchased pins but have also been volunteering their time to support sales of the pins at various retail outlets throughout Barbados.

Scotiabank volunteer Gabrielle Galuschka shared, “It has been a rewarding and wonderful experience working with the Variety Club in the Gold Hearts Campaign. It is a great privilege for me to be directly involved in assisting the support of the welfare of children, especially those with medical needs. I am ecstatic that Scotiabank recognises the importance of assisting a charity, such as the Variety Club and is committed to enabling its employees to give back to the community through such a worthwhile activity,” she commented.

Chief Barker of Variety Ryan Jones highlighted the campaign and thanked Scotiabank for its contributions.

“Each year, Gold Heart sales help to support our Variety Care Programme, which provides essential medical aid and equipment to children who are sick. From helping to cover medical expenses to the purchase of equipment and supplies for paediatric units at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH), these funds help to ensure that every child, regardless of their circumstances, gets the care they deserve. This year, we are again extremely grateful for the assistance of the Scotiabank volunteers, who are selflessly giving their time to assist us with Gold Heart sales at various locations across the island. Thank you, team Scotiabank, for helping us to make a difference.” Jones stated.

Members of the public are invited to support Variety’s Gold Heart Campaign.
