Some 55 schools are set to be onboarded to the government’s National Financial Literacy Programme (NFLP) by September, with plans to extend the initiative to all primary and secondary schools by next year.
Minister of Energy and Business Senator Lisa Cummins made the announcement in Parliament on Wednesday, highlighting what she described as the programme’s rapid expansion from its initial pilot phase.
Launched last year, the NFLP began with 13 schools—six primary and seven secondary—targeting Class Two and second-form students.
The programme also introduces tailored curricula for remedial and special needs students.
Cummins also noted the success of a newly introduced energy summer camp, which benefited over 200 students in its inaugural year.
She further shared that funding has been allocated in the upcoming financial year to broaden the camp’s reach. (SM)
