Mount Tabor Primary gives back: Students, PTA bring joy to senior homes

Mount Tabor Primary School marked the 34th anniversary at its current location with a heartwarming celebration that extended far beyond its gates.

In a touching gesture of community spirit, the school’s parent-teacher association (PTA) organised visits to two senior care facilities, Sherbourne Senior Home and New Dawn Senior Home, bringing smiles, companionship, and practical support to elderly residents.

Sixteen students—Storm, Janari, Harare, Zitari, Tionce, Karim, Daniel, Jazz, Zaire, Jachae, Jachera, Amina, Kelani, Sapphire, Zakyra, and Mickieah—were accompanied by three parent chaperones: PTA President Ashanti and floor members Janeva and Maria, as well as teacher Ms Warde. The purpose of the visit was to bring joy and companionship to the elderly residents while also lending a helping hand.

The PTA extends heartfelt thanks to its sponsors, including the Transport Board, with special appreciation to Carla and Mr Rawlins for providing transport. Western Wholesale Inc contributed to the initiative, while Storm Sweet Farm and Our Green Touch donated seedlings to support the senior homes’ garden projects. The event’s success was made possible through the unwavering support of Mount Tabor’s parents, teachers, students, and the PTA.

This act of community service exemplified Mount Tabor’s commitment to fostering compassion, kindness, and community spirit among its students.
