A 36-year-old mechanic is on remand after being charged with stealing six vehicles and their contents in 2018.
Terry Anderson Cadogan of Cane Garden, St Philip, was taken before Chief Magistrates’ Ian Weekes in the No. 1 District ‘A’ Magistrates Court on Monday and was not required to plead to the indictable offences, which span three jurisdictions.
The charges are that: between June 20 and 21, 2018, he stole a motorcar valued at $23 000, a baby seat valued at $200, a head lamp valued at $50, four pairs of shoes valued at $725, a chair valued at $40, and a bottle of whiskey valued at $250, belonging to Rommell Cumberbatch between August 26 and 27, 2018, he stole a motorcar valued at $20 500 belonging to

Cadogan is also accused of dishonestly assisting in the retention of a motor van valued at $90 000 belonging to Shanice Moore, knowing or believing the same to be stolen between October 12, 2018 and January 9, 2019.
Objecting to bail, Station Sergeant Chrishna Williams highlighted the nature of the offences, the prevalence of such offences in society and Cadogan’s criminal record, which showed several theft convictions for theft.
“The accused was also the subject of a wanted bulletin, and it is alleged that police had to search for him, so there is the possibility that if he is granted bail, he will evade the law courts,” the prosecutor added.
Cadogan, who was unrepresented, told the court that he had not turned himself into the police station because he was going through “a rough patch in life” as he was the sole breadwinner in his household.
Chief Magistrate Weekes remanded him until April 25, when he will return on the District ‘A’ matters.
Cadogan will appear in the District ‘C’ Court on April 10 and in the District ‘B’ Court on April 15 for matters in those jurisdictions.
