A delegation of Barbadian citizens, calling themselves the ‘Loyal Opposition’, has been granted a hearing before the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights to challenge the government’s proposed Cybercrime Bill 2024.
They argue that the bill poses a threat to freedom of expression.
The hearing will take place on November 11 in Washington D.C., during the commission’s 191st session, which runs from November 4-15.
Activist Marcia Weekes made the announcement during a meeting hosted by the Group of Barbadian Organizations and Citizens on Tuesday.
Details in tonight’s e-paper.
