Ellerton hammered Deacons Club 3-0 to move into third on the points table, along with Paradise, who secured a comfortable 4-0 win against Pride of Gall Hill, in the Barbados Football Association Premier League on Thursday.
The St. George-based Ellerton, and Dover outfit Paradise, now both have 12 points following the double-header at Valery.
Ellerton dominated the first match, attacking midfielder Rashad Jules opening the scoring in the ninth minute before doubling their lead through an own goal from defender Russell Taylor in the 23rd, with captain Shakille Belle netting the third of the half.
Coming off winning their first game of the season against Kickstart Rush last Sunday, Deacons found themselves outplayed by a lethal Ellerton team, with their back four of Russell Taylor, Danico Watson, Sauntre Edwards, and Santro Springer put under pressure from a strong Ellerton attack featuring Jules, right-winger Romario Drakes, Rommell Bynoe and Belle.
Ellerton opened the scoring when Drakes passed to Jules, who outpaced Taylor, weaved his way into the 18-yard box for a precise finish into the bottom right corner past goalkeeper Ron Pile.
Their second goal was a fortuitous one, Taylor finding the back of his own net and spectators were still digesting the strike when Deacons conceded their third of the first half when a beautiful square ball from Drakes was finished by Belle from the middle of the box.
Midway through the first half, the game became somewhat physical, with a few players going down with injuries but the scoreline held and Ellerton reached the break with a comfortable cushion.
A more tactical approach by Deacon resulted in an improved showing in the second half as they put more pressure on Ellerton defenders, including central defender Shane Codrington.
Ellerton, on the other hand, opted to play a lot of aerial balls, switching possession across the field as they went in search of a fourth goal.
Deacons created a few goal-scoring chances but failed to convert, especially with a poor 25-yard free kick taken by Atkins midway through the decisive half.
