Appliance and furniture store Standard Distribution & Sales (Barbados) Limited has announced its appointment of Renatta S. A. Mohammed as general manager since January 1.
In her new capacity, Mohammed will directly report to the managing director of Standard Distributors Limited (Trinidad). Her duties encompass overseeing the organisation’s overall operations, with a primary focus on effective leadership and management. She is accountable to the primary stakeholders and shareholders of the company.
Renatta Mohammed brings a wealth of experience in business development and general management garnered from various sectors. Her career spans both public and private domains, including education, retail, accounting, finance, fintech, trade, investment, and hospitality.
Armed with an MBA from Henley University in the UK, Mohammed has held significant roles such as communication chair of Barbados International Business Association (BIBA), executive director of the American Chamber (Barbados), senior manager at accounting firm Deloitte, Caribbean Lead for Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada (CPA Canada), and investment and marketing director at Invest Barbados. Notably, she played a key role in the transformation of the Trinidad and Tobago Postal Corporation (TTPost) which has been recognised by the World Bank.
Mohammed’s experience in retail includes leading iconic department store Macy’s customer experience in Florida and managing public relations for ATN International’s Guyana Telephone Company. She has been involved in groundbreaking initiatives such as consulting for Bitt Inc., the Caribbean’s first digital currency company, and supporting fintech start-ups. Additionally, she has managed Trinidad and Tobago’s country brand through the then Tourism and Industrial Development Company (TIDCO).
